New Facilities & Expansion Report
The New Facilities and Expansion Report is a database which tracks state and local Economic Development Projects. These projects
are used by national magazines to both conduct and publish annual national rankings of states that have the greatest economic development activity as well as for their
use in developing editorial content for their monthly editions. The Department also utilizes the data submitted into this data base for both research and editorial
purposes. All local units of government and local and regional economic development organizations are encouraged to enter
their economic development projects on an ongoing basis into this database. In both 2001 and 2002, Illinois was ranked as the Number
1 State in Economic Development activity by Site Selection
Magazine (PDF 746 KB) . This accomplishment was made possible because of the data input into this system by the hundreds of local communities and economic development
organizations.
